Comparison of Fairy Tales ''Snow White'' and ''Nardaniye Hanim'' in Terms of Plots and Motifs

Fairy tales are important oral culture elements that carry a society's culture into the future. We tried to evaluate the European fairy tale "Snow White" by the Brothers Grimm and the Turkish fairy tale "Nardaniye Hanım" in terms of plots and motives. Hence, we tried to uncover the similarities and differences between these two fairy tales. The aim of this study is to examine these two fairy tales, the Turkish and the German, which are representatives of two different cultures, in terms of plot and motif. In this context, the fairy tales of two different cultures were examined and the similarities and differences between the fairy tales were determined. Thus, these two tales did not only reflect the past life of the people, but also their present life.In this study, the method of literature research was used.

Equivalence in translating euphemisms about death from German into Turkish

Übersetzung kann schwierig sein, da es viele Herausforderungen gibt, die beim Übertragen von Inhalten einer Sprache in eine andere auftreten können. Einige der häufigsten Schwierigkeiten beim Übersetzen sind: Kulturelle Unterschiede, Idiome und Redewendungen, Grammatik und Syntax, Kontext, Euphemismen etc. Euphemismen sind Ausdrücke, die verwendet werden, um etwas, das als unangenehm, unangemessen oder beleidigend empfunden werden könnte, auf eine höfliche oder weniger direkte Art und Weise auszudrücken. Bei der Übersetzung von Euphemismen ist es wichtig, ihre tatsächliche Bedeutung und Absicht zu verstehen und sicherzustellen, dass die Übersetzung die gleiche beabsichtigte Wirkung hat. Euphemismen gehören auch zu den schwierig zu übersetzenden Bereichen, und deshalb untersucht diese Studie einige der Euphemismen, die im Deutschen für den Tod verwendet werden, und versucht, die Entsprechung im Türkischen zu finden.

Toplumların sürekli olarak değişmesi sanatta ve edebiyatta da birtakım değişikliklerin görülmesini sağlarken bu durumdan dilbilim de doğal olarak etkilenir. Dolayısıyla dilbilimin bu değişime ayak uydurarak yeni tür ve biçimler karşısında yeni metotlar geliştirmesi de pek tabii olarak beklenebilir. Asemik yazı ya da asemik şiir bu bağlamda dilbilim için önemli bir nesne konumunda olarak düşünülebilir. Doğası itibarıyla yorumlama imkânlarını mümkün kılması ve Umberto Eco’nun açık yapıt kavramına uygun olması, asemik yazıyı özellikle göstergebilimsel açıdan cazip kılar. Bu çalışmada göstergebilim ve asemik yazı / asemik şiir ele alındıktan sonra bazı asemik şiir örnekleri üzerinden göstergebilim ve asemik yazı arasındaki ilişki ortaya koyulmaya çalışıldı.

Variations of the "Cinderella" fairy tales on the Internet

In this study, 8 "Cinderella" stories on the Internet are discussed with regard to their narrative changes. The fairy tales studied are the texts that are first presented to the reader when they are typed into the Cinderella search engine. Cinderella fairy tales available online include: M1. “Külkedisi Gerçek Hikâyesi Oku. M2. “Külkedisi Sindirella Masalı”. M3. “Külkedisi”. M4. “Külkedisi Sindirella Masalı Oku”. M5. “Sindirella Külkedisi Masalı”. M6. “Cinderella (Külkedisi) Masalı ve Hikayesi Oku - Baloya giden külkedisi…”. M7. “Külkedisi Sindirella Çocuk Masalı”. M8. “Külkedisi Grimm Kardeşler bir peri masalı”. In order to clarify which fairy tale the study is about, the abbreviation M1, M2 has been placed in front of the names of the fairy tales in the list above. These abbreviations are used for these fairy tales in the study.

Analysis of the stories of The Yellow Wallpaper and The Story of an Hour in the Context of Feminist Scrutiny

In this study, the works of two American authors were analyzed by comparing. The stories The Yellow Wallpaper written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman in 1892 and The Story of an Hour written by Kate Chopin in 1894 were examined in a feminist way. Literature, one of the centers of interest of feminism, paved the way for the birth of feminist literary criticism. Feminist literary criticism, which approaches the place and problems of women in society through literary texts, has brought a new perspective to the patriarchal literary world. Thus, in this study, the marginalization of women by society from the point of view of feminist literary criticism is addressed and the starting point of the short story is touched upon first. Later, without ignoring the social/historical reality about women, the contributions of the feminism movement to literature were tried to be determined. In both of the stories we have covered, autobiographical features are predominantly related to the lives of the authors. The wave of feminism that rose in the field of literature in the mid-nineteenth century and continued to be dominant in the twentieth century was instrumental in making Gilman and Chopin's voices heard more widely. The Yellow Wallpaper and The Story of an Hour addressed the type of woman who symbolizes the exclusion of women due to the male dominant culture and the exclusion of women who cannot be heard due to the masculine dominant culture, drawing attention to the rejection of the roles assigned to women by patriarchal society. In these two stories, which emphasize that women can lead independent lives without any intervention, it is tried to convey to the reader with various images that women can exist as individuals alone in society.

Queer Linguistics

Nature is built on opposites. However, if these oppositions are accepted as binary oppositions as understood by classical logic, some things in nature will be missed. It is possible to attribute these contrasts to gender. There are also people who are in between the heterosexual scale of the male-female dichotomy, which is usually formed by the shaping of social culture, that is, there are people who do not want to include themselves in the category of either woman or man. In fact, such people often have to hide their identities. Remains, if they do not hide it, they are ostracized or live an almost ascetic life by risking exclusion.... However, these genders may depend on their natural structures, not the preferences of the people involved.This duality, which many institutions such as religion, language, history, law, education, health, and politics, which provides the continuity of society, sometimes see as an indisputable value, has in recent years "Queer Theory" and subsequently "Queere Linguistics" has been widely discussed in the framework. In this study, a conceptual discussion will be made by taking into account different sources related to the subject.

Bıblıometrıc Evaluatıon Of Thesıs Publıshed On Tourısm Educatıon In Turkey Between 1988-2022

The need for qualified personnel in the tourism sector is an indispensable phenomenon. In order to supply qualified personnel, the quality of Tourism Education must be high. “Tourism Education”, which has a very important place in the tourism sector, in our country; It is given at secondary education, associate degree and undergraduate levels. With these trainings, the students who graduate from these schools meet the qualified personnel needs of the tourism sector. When we examine the literature on tourism education, we see that the number of theses written in this field has increased considerably in recent years. Bibliometric analysis is a kind of content analysis that includes a frequency analysis, social network analysis and citation analysis of various parameters (such as subject, method and bibliography, etc.) of publications. With this study, it was aimed to determine the bibliometric characteristics of the theses written in the field of tourism education between 1988-2022 in the Higher Education Thesis Center (YÖKTEZ) database, by examining them within different parameters.

The Relationship between Social Expenditures and Macroeconomic Stability in Inflationary Periods: The Case of Turkey in the COVID-19 Period

This study deals with the relationship between social expenditures and macroeconomic stability in the case of Turkey during the COVID-19 period when inflationary pressure is felt. In this way, it emphasizes the points to be considered to prevent repeating similar processes in future periods. In this context, the concept and theory relations related to the whole of the study were established. Then the situation assessment during COVID-19 was made by referring to the social expenditures made in Turkey and other countries. Then, the changes and problems caused by social expenditures in Turkey on macroeconomic stability are presented. As a result, some suggestions have been presented to maintain macroeconomic stability and prevent the problems identified in social expenditures.
