Abstract

Political parties are the main axis of modern politics and a fundamental tool for establishing democracy. It represents the main source of communication between the state and civil society. The activity of political parties is especially noticeable during the election period, especially at the current stage, when Georgian political reality is facing quite significant challenges. According to the European Neighborhood Policy, broad political pluralism is to be promoted in the country, which implies strengthening the role and functioning of political parties in Georgia. The paper aims to study and analyze the 2024 parliamentary election process in Georgia, the program documents of political parties with many important features. Moreover, it clarifies to what extent each electoral subject that has overcome the barriers is oriented towards covering all spheres of public life in its program documents, or whether it is limited and focuses only on individual elements. At the same time, the study is also focused on clarifying the extent to which a political entity offers population-specific mechanisms for solving a particular issue or public problem. The results of a study of election promises made by political entities in the 2024 parliamentary elections showed that there arose many questions about the mechanisms for their implementation, and were considered controversial. In addition, the analysis of pre-election platforms revealed that in most cases, political entities avoided talking about specific ways to fulfill the promises set out in the program, which can be explained by the caution of political entities and the lack of public accountability.
