This article investigates the literary tourism potential of Hameln, Germany, by focusing on the globally renowned “Pied Piper of Hameln” legend. The study illustrates how this historic tale has significantly influenced the city’s cultural identity and has become a pivotal factor in driving tourism to the area. The research emphasizes Hameln’s ability to transform its literary heritage into a sustainable tourism product through various offerings such as festivals, theatrical performances, reenactments, and guided tours that revolve around the Pied Piper. As a result of a detailed document analysis, a qualitative research technique, it was observed that there are too many events like festivals, plays, city tours, museum visits contributing the potential of Hameln’s tourism. The article further explores how the city's tourism sector benefits from the commodification of its literary heritage and how this process contributes to the city's economic and cultural development. By integrating literature into tourism, Hameln creates diverse and immersive experiences that attract a broad range of visitors, from literary enthusiasts to casual tourists.
