Abstract

Abstract

In this article, the insights, connections, goals and potentials of Digital Game-Based Language Learning are presented first. From the broad spectrum of this subject area, the focus is placed in particular on the methodology, with the knowledge interest to create alternative learning spaces via virtual learning environments for Learners of German as Foreign Language. Using the example of the three-dimensional learning game Berlin 3D entdecken! the conceptualization of which was created in close cooperation between Bursa Uludağ University and Friedrich Schiller University, it is explained how the concepts are applied in each case and how the use of this form of learning provides a deeper insight into foreign language learning processes of interculturally motivated German as Foreign Language lessons.
